A wonderful Ringo A-side! I never knew that the Gary Owens 45 came before his astonishing “Put Your Head On My Finger” LP. And a neat A-side from Dr. John (is this the single from “Gumbo”?) Also a ton of Project 3 label singles released this week – ‘easy listening jukebox’ fodder?

It's amazing in retrospect to realize that Ringo managed to have a fairly hot career through the mid-70s. "Back Off Boogaloo" and expecially "It Don't Come Easy" were ace singles, but "You're Sixteen" was just a sick number. Especially when you remember that when the Sherman Brothers wrote it, they were on the close side of forty... Ewwww!!
But when the Beatles fractionalized, all 4 members had hot solo careers for at least half of a decade. Any other bands manage that trick? No, KISS doesn't count!!! Only Ace had a (good) hit.
