Les McCann / Eddie Harris
1-16-09 Les McCann / Eddie Harris
Pretty sure I first heard Les McCann on the FM radio – at the time “Spanish Onions” came out (1966 or so). I was listening to KNOB-FM (“The jazz knob”,
Next step was hearing “Compared To What” being played in a record store, about ’71. It’s more like an R&B song than a jazz work. But I liked what I heard, and got a copy of “Swiss Movement” for $2.44 (new) – that’s how long ago that was!
My adventures with these wonderful jazz guys was continued with an unusual Eddie Harris LP, “The Reason Why I’m Talkin’ Shit” – a comedy record! Me & my friends listened to it, and could quote it at length. I like some of his electric jazz albums, too.
