No, never got a CD of Howard’s only solo album – but it has been re-issued recently, so now I supposed there’s no reason not to. I missed his solo live show(s) in

I saw Luxuria live, really good. I also have the longform home video for Luxuria, and the book of Howard’s lyrics that came out at about the time of “Beast Box” (“It Only Looks As If It Hurts”).

I probably need to give this some more time. It’s the sole modern day CD of Mr. Devoto.
Not entirely comfortable with punk rock, Magazine were the open door through which I proceeded to properly approach “new wave”. After a promo LP of “Real Life”, I could then approach XTC, Ultravox, Simple Minds et al. I had to wait until 1979 to see Magazine live, but it was worth the wait. I was 21 years old. I stood at the front of the stage on the dance-floor at The Whisky in
To paraphrase Nick Currie (aka Momus) – “You think I’m under-rated? What about Howard Devoto?”.

Re: Devoto
I want to make a "loose ends" comp called "Devoto Companion," but I lack the JPN version of Buzzkunst [2 unique bonus tracks], the "Til The Stars In His Eyes Are Dead" single [2 more b-sides] and the "Brute Reason" LP. I have everything else that he did outside of Magazine and not on "Jerky Versions," "Unanswerable Lust" and "Beast Box."
I got Buzzkunst from La La and love it! The instrumentals are a bit of a rip off - after all, Devoto's power is in his words and delivery, but tracks like "Can You See Me Shining" more than make up for them. The Mansun material is written by Howard only. Caveat Emptor.
Do ye' not have Howard's turn on Alex Chilton's "Holocaust" from This Mortal Coil's "It'll End In Tears," laddie?
So you saw Magazine AND Luxuria?? B*stard!!! So Cope swiped Devoto's stage presence AND mike stand??!! Damn!!! I only ever saw Cope, whom I like well enough, but he's no Howard Devoto. No one else is.
Is "Alternative Use of Soap" different tracks or only the title change? Hey, I LIKED the US cover change on Virgin Atlantic. I could never wrap my head around the kraft paper look of the real cover.
Nick Currie is a very wise man.
So far you're batting 2 for 2 this week with my all time favorite artists. Who's tomorrow? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that I'd put in the class of Foxx or Devoto. Maybe Scott Engel.
