He has been out of The Stranglers a lot longer now than he was in The Stranglers. I am particularly taken with his ’08 release “Hooverdam”. It’s my favorite release of his in some years. I also enjoyed the accompanying DVD, “Blueprint”.

I was lucky enough to have seen a solo show by Mr. Cornwell @ The Mint on Pico Blvd., in approx. 1999. I don’t think he has ever come back to L.A. with a band. He was very kind to sign some of the records I brought with me – such as “Ladies & Gentlemen, An Evening With Hugh Cornwell” (a Stranglers 12” B-side that was basically a comedy record!).

I also saw The Stranglers @ The Whisky A-Go-Go approx. 1979 – at the time, I thought $8.50 was a lot for a concert ticket (when most visiting UK artists charged $5 - $6 per ticket or so). It was my only opportunity to ever see them play live.

Really must try and pick up the HC solo albums that I am missing. I think there are at least two (three?). Thanks for the music, Mr. Cornwell. I am still listening!

I need to catch up with Hugh Cornwell. The last one I got was Hi-Fi (US edition) at full retail (!) because I though "Hugh deserves it!" The least I could do was contribute to his Soundscan numbers. I've enjoyed everything I've heard from Mr. Cornwell. The Strangers ended for me with his departure. I gave 'em a chance but I'm no masochist.

I can only echo Jim's comments 100%. I'm off to iTunes to sample some of his solo work, and will make judicious purchases of his CDs when circumstances dictate.
