Still, I am thinking of getting the recent CD / DVD boxed set of this Genesis material. Never been much of a fan of “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” – and I’ve tried. I confess to being intrigued by the bonus video material in the ’08 boxed set. Not so sure about DTS 5.1 mixes of these ancient albums, however. Will they sound like the original
I have picked up some of the SACD Peter Gabriel albums (“Security”, I believe) – but, alas, it’s SACD-only, so it won’t play on my piddly old CD player!

I'm very tempted by the recent CD/DVD box as well, but the price tag is way too steep for my current economic reality.
My understanding is that the stereo mixes of the LPs are stunning, but the 5.1 mixes do take some "liberties". Goldmine's reviewer really liked them, but of course 5.1 mixes are more for the fun of expanding our perceptions of certain classic LPs.
The price point is what has kept me from buying one, I admit.

Too bad I'm not a Genesis fan or REVO would be issuing a CD/DVD boxed set of god… at no cost. Too bad you're not Spandau Ballet fans (hint). Ce'st la musique!
I follow Ron's tastes re: Gabriel and Genesis fairly closely. Genesis was a non-entity for me after Gabriel left.
I have the third Gabriel solo album in both an English and German edition. The isolation, paranoia and other dark themes on that record are magnified exponentially when sung in German!
I guess that was Gabriel's "Berlin" record, and he managed to catch the genie Bowie and Eno were chasing after rather well IMO.
I actually don't remember the second Gabriel solo album at all -- it's got to be at least 15-20 years since I last listened to it! I should probably pick up a new copy.
PS. After "Security" he kind of got too hit-and-miss for me to follow closely, though there are individual songs that still merit attention.
The 2nd PG is actually rather good, Chas-san.
