Yes, I have a lot of the “Island Era” of Ms. Faithfull’s releases. I am very fond of the songwriting of Mr. Barry Reynolds and arranging / playing of Mr. Wally Badarou. And MF’s not bad, either!

She never played L.A. at the time of “Broken English” – I wish she had’ve. I saw her on “Saturday Night Live” – and, unfortunately, she looked kind of ‘out of it’ – so maybe it’s OK her and her band didn’t come here in the early 80’s. I was never disappointed!

I think “Child’s Adventure” is my favorite LP of the “Island Era” – I just love “Times Square” and “Blue Millionaire”! I only recent got “Blazing Away”, her first (?) live album. I also really liked a few of her later albums, notably “Kissin’ Time” and “Sex With Strangers”. I also ‘enjoyed’ her harrowing autobiography. Either you love that voice or you don’t. I always did.

Whenever I went to Europe, I always kept my eyes open for variant editions of her 45’s, and I have quite a few of them. When I posted pictures of the picture sleeves on Flickr, it attracted a lot of attention.

I hope she’s around for a long time – singing the songs of Barry Reynolds!

Can't say I've always loved that voice. Of course, Broken English was my intro to MF. I love anything she's done from that point on in varying degrees. But when we found an early best of [shades of Leonard Cohen] I was appalled at the unravaged tones of the youthful Ms. Faithfull! Believe it or not, I'd never heard "As Tears Go By" by anyone but the Rolling Stones prior! Like Cohen, I find their earlier work callow and unmoving [though Cohen sure had songwriting chops even then]. Say, is that 12" extended?!

That would be the Broken English 12" I was failing to refer to... Still the template for Billie Jean's bassline, by the way.
