At some point, I wondered whether or not I was going to like every French pop band from Lyon! Very snappy stuff – their single “Chic Planete” is instantly implanted in your pop cortex. They ‘rocked’ from approx. ’87 to ’97.

My L’ALT story that I love to tell: In ’89 / ’90, I was regularly ‘reading’ Rock et Folk, the French music magazine – well, I was looking at the photos and the advertisements. I could see in the concert listings that L’Affaire Louis’ Trio was ‘on tour’ – and that there was a confirmed Paris date at a theatre I was familiar with. It was sometime in the not too distant future – a couple of months? I arranged to be in Paris the day / week of the show – at a fair expense. I figured I would buy tickets “sur place” – at the box office. I get there on the night of the show and – rien de tout. The show had been cancelled, re-scheduled for the following spring – no way for me to have known about it.

I liked their 2nd album “Le Retour De L’Age D’Or” even better than I liked the debut, the “Chic Planete” album. Such charming stuff. The single from the 2nd album, “Succes De L’Armes” is one of my all time favorite singles – I wanted to hear Frank Sinatra sing it!

I was also fiddling around with the C-Band satellite about this time – I discovered that on the Canadian satellite (Anik D6), they were showing French variety TV shows! Lo and behold – I got a lovely show (doubtlessly destined for Quebec) with Cleet Boris, the leader of L’ALT, singing a sappy French music hall song! So they mean it!

All good things must come to an end – they broke up after leaving Barclay Records, and Cleet Boris is now trading under his own name, Hubert Mounier.
